What Is Gold-Filled Jewelry?

Gold-filled jewelry is created by bonding solid gold to a base metal like sterling silver or copper. "Bonding" is a heat and pressure process, as opposed to plating, which uses electricity to adhere gold ions to a base metal. We will always mark each piece with the karat of gold and base metals used.

We typically use 18k gold on sterling silver. 18k gold is composed of 75% gold and 25% alloy. We will never use gold that is mixed with nickel!

Why Should I Buy Gold-Filled Jewelry?

Gold-filled jewelry is less expensive than solid gold jewelry, and it is actually more durable and stays shiny for decades. Gold is a very soft material, so it is easily scratched and damaged unless it is mixed with a harder metal like copper or silver.

These simple tips will help keep your jewelry looking its best for years to come!

 

Gold-Filled Jewelry

With proper care, gold-filled pieces will last a lifetime and can be re-gifted over and over.

Gold-filled jewelry will rarely need to be cleaned. They can be worn in the shower, but we recommend removing them before swimming in oceans or chlorine pools, working out and avoid spraying perfumes or hairsprays near them. Salt, chlorine, and other harsh chemicals can dull the quality of gold.

Light Cleaning

Gently wipe any residue off with a soft microfiber cloth and polish with a jewelry polishing cloth. Store in a soft pouch to avoid scratches.

Heavy Duty Cleaning

  1. Soak gold-filled jewelry in water mixed with sudsy dish soap for 1 minute to break down dirt and grime.

  2. Scrub with a soft toothbrush. Make sure it is soft, because gold is a soft metal and can get damaged with a hard bristle.

  3. Rinse with clean warm water. We recommend using a clean bowl for this so you don't drop it down the drain!

  4. Pat dry with a clean, lint-free towel.

 

Gold-Plated & Sterling Silver Jewelry

Store your gold plated or sterling silver jewelry in a zip-lock plastic bag and squeeze out any excess air before sealing it shut. Minimizing oxygen in the bag will help keep the gold plated jewelry bright and shiny.

Remove gold plated and sterling silver jewelry before showering, swimming and working out to lengthen the lifespan of your piece. Wearing gold plated sterling silver and sterling silver pieces often could help maintain the look of your piece, as the oil in your skin can help prevent tarnishing on silver.

Cleaning

Gently rub the gold plated/silver jewelry with a soft, non-abrasive, and lint-free cloth. Do not use a polishing cloth on gold plating, as it may strip away the gold layer. You may use a polishing cloth on sterling silver.

    Return Policy

    We have a 14-day return policy, which means you have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return unless the item listing notes that it is a final sale. Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us within 7 days if any item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

    To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You will need the order number and shipping zip code.

    You have the option of returning your items with a pre-paid shipping label that we provide or your own packaging. Refunds are processed within 3 days of receiving your return.

    Items sent back to us without first requesting a return through the portal or via email will not be accepted.

    Damages and Issues

    Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us within 7 days if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

     

    Exceptions / Non-Returnable Items

    Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods (such as food, flowers, or plants), custom products (such as special orders or personalized items), and personal care goods (such as beauty products). We also do not accept returns for hazardous materials, flammable liquids, or gases. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.

    Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items, items marked 'final sale', or gift cards. 

     

    Exchanges

    The fastest way to exchange an item is to submit a return using our returns portal and purchase the item you would like.

      

    European Union 14-day Cooling Off Period

    Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason, and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

     

    Refunds

    We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If your return is approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
